Art Nouveau caraf Haida Glass school
Elegant and slim German Art Nouveau glass carafe with silver fittings.
Design by Karl Pohl around 1915/20.
Execution of the Haida Glass Technical School, sales of the Glashütte Joh.Oertel & Co.
Polychrome motif: bird of paradise between leaf tendrils.
In addition to its wonderful condition, the carafe impresses with its well-proportioned shape and lovely decoration,
which was also used by Karl Pohl in other glass objects from the Haida Glass School.
A colorful bird of paradise decorated with several transparent enamel paints in a black frieze with blue, transparent leaf tendrils. A total of 3 birds line the carafe. These colors and patterns are repeated on the floor and on the spout, connected by vertical black solder lines.
The silver armor comes from the renowned silversmith J.H.Werner, also an imperial court jeweler from Berlin.
It is signed with his mark, as well as with the crescent moon & crown and the 800 silver content.
The clear stopper was sometimes added later, but it fits so far from the closure.
As an addition there is a blue plug, which is too thin in diameter but fits well in color.
This is to be understood as a purely free bonus.
- Height with clear plug: 39 cm
- Height without pegs: 33.5 cm
- Diameter: 11cm
