Bauhaus Desk Letterholder 1930
Very nice, Bauhaus-oriented letter stand for the well-kept desk.
The holder, made and hand-hammered from a single piece of sheet brass, is a wonderful example
for the timelessly elegant design language of the 1920s/30s with the advent of modernism.
Arts and crafts schools such as the Bauhaus, Burg Giebichenstein and others all had metal classes and the resulting talented metal artists. Be it Christian Dell, Karl Raichle, Hans Przyrembel, Marianne Brandt, Hayno Focken etc... . Many of these talented artisans are still unknown, although their objects are enchanting.
This also applies to this letter holder, whose artist and designer is (still) unknown.
In addition to the classic basic geometric shape of a triangle, the beautiful surface treatment impresses with a punched hammer finish in a line look.
Due to its age, a very beautiful patina has grown over the years.
The holder was only waxed for conservation purposes.
