Beautiful, naturalistic pair of Art Nouveau tiles from the period 1896-1906.
Plastic, relief surface in polychrome colors.
Designed by Carl Sigmund Luber for Johann von Schwarz.
This is a pair/set, although each tile represents a complete landscape in itself.
They were not intended as tiles in combination with other tiles in a mortar bed,
but rather as an independent work of art, which is provided with a factory hanger on the back.
The tiles in portrait format each represent an idyllic landscape.
They are marked on the back with a serial number and other manufacturer data.
It is model 1025 and 1026.
In the catalogue raisonné of Carl Sigmund Luber, which is in the book
"Carl Sigmund Luber, life and work as designer of Art Nouveau ceramics by Johann von Schwarz 1896-1906",
the tile with the number 1025 can be found under catalogue raisonné number WV 224. Any dimensions, inscriptions and designations correspond exactly to the description noted.
The tile number 1026, on the other hand, was still completely unknown when the catalogue raisonné was created.
Dimensions, inscriptions, stamps and designations correspond exactly to model 1025.
