CÉSAR MANRIQUE

Abstract vintage tray by the famous Spanish artist César Manrique.
(1919 Lanzarote-1992 Lanzarote, Spain).

Manrique's biography is very extensive. A wealth of information about his life and works can be found online, as well as about his commitment to the natural preservation of Lanzarote.

A colorful personality with many interests and acquaintances: Andy Warhol, Rita Hayworth, Rockefeller, etc.

The tray, consisting of three elongated polychrome tiles placed side by side and framed with a simple, timeless black wooden frame, depicts the abstract image of a fish with teeth.
The intersecting, flowing lines form the basis for new color zones.
The influence of Picasso, whom he admired from an early age, is unmistakable.

The tray is signed on the tile.
The tiles are in immaculate condition.
Production period: 1960s.
The wooden frame has some wood/paint loss on one lower edge, which is easily repaired if it bothers you.
