Chandelier Bronze Nils Fougstedt Art Deco
Scandinavian Modernism - Nils Fougstedt
Very beautiful, timelessly elegant candlestick from Swedish modernism.
Bronze, partly greenish, partly brownish patina.
The chandelier impresses with its clear, symmetrical shape.
Attrib. to Nils Fougstedt (1881-1954), an important Swedish sculptor and artisan.
His metal objects from the 1920s made of tin, silver, bronze and gold, which are associated with functionalism and modernism, set the style. Similar to many modern metal artists such as from the Bauhaus for example, he worked with simple shapes, disks, cylinders and elegant curves, etc.
Many of his objects present stylistically simplified animal representations as a partial element, often fallow deer/deer.
His bronze works, which deliberately have a stronger green/brown contrast in the surface treatment, were mostly made by Fabriks AG Kronsilver (FAK).
