A highly elegant rectangular pewter vase by the renowned Scottish designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868–1928).

Few artists of his time in Great Britain were as multifaceted as Mackintosh; he was an architect, interior designer, painter, craftsman, and designer. He was a leading figure in the Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts movements in Britain and beyond. Together with his wife and her siblings (known as "The Four"), he played a pivotal role in shaping the Glasgow School of Art. While his early works reflect phases of Symbolism, his later designs are characterized by a more geometric style.

Mackintosh produced various versions of this model. Although the basic form—featuring a square plinth—remained identical, he varied the engraved designs, incorporating elements such as geometric patterns and floral motifs.
This particular version combines both styles to some extent: an abstract, vertically oriented floral lens with fine internal hatching is enclosed within a frame that runs parallel to the outer edges.
