Hael Bauhaus Ceramic Cactus Planter

HAEL - MARGARETE HEYMANN MARKS LÖBENSTEIN - CERAMICS

An interesting and museum-worthy rarity from Hael Ceramics.
Hael ceramics are always something special.
Founded in 1923 by Bauhaus student Margarete Heymann Loebenstein, along with her husband Gustav Loebenstein and her brother-in-law Daniel Loebenstein.
Barely 10 years later, she was forced to close her workshop again due to economic reasons and Nazi repression. In 1936, she emigrated to England and thus escaped deportation.
With her ceramics, which were distinctive in their patterns, colors, and shapes, she left behind impressive modernist objects. Hael's ceramics were recently honored with a special exhibition in Berlin.
Her objects are represented in major museums and exhibitions around the world.
Here is something small, delicate, and rare in the form of a cactus planter.
Polychrome finish in yellow, blue, green, brown, and black on a white background.
A design from 1924, designated with decor no. 147 a and form no. 87.

  • Height 6.3 cm
  • Top diameter 7.5 cm
  • Bottom diameter 4.0 cm

Due to use, the small planter has chips on the rim (top and bottom) and a crack in the ceramic. Considering its rarity, age, intended use at the time, and current value as a collector's item with cultural and historical significance, it is entirely negligible, even if it is still usable in the classic sense.

  • Price €: 225
