Late impressionist painting by Kaj Sessingø

Born in Ledøje, Denmark on June 16, 1910, died on May 25, 1973 in Copenhagen.

Kaj Sessingø, or more precisely Kaj Lars Peter Sessingø, was a Danish artist and teacher who, in addition to motifs from his homeland, also found inspiration in France and the Spanish islands.

A Danish late impressionist between 1930 and 1950.

The picture leads the viewer along a winding path into a mixed forest of deciduous and fir trees.
In the background, in the distance, you can see a chain of hills.
From the left side, not visible, the low sun and its rays illuminate the scenery in a sea of colors. The trees and bushes cast long shadows on the same, on the path and the surrounding nature.
The warm and changing colors probably indicate the golden hour that Sessingø captured here.
That time of day, also popular with many other artists, when warm reddish rays of sunlight create a special mood and play of colors just before the sun disappears on the horizon a short time later.
The sandy path, which actually shines in a yellow-ochre/orange, awakens to a "zebra crossing way" with alternating colors in blue-violet and yellow-ochre. The forest floor, with its various green, brown and yellow tones, also creates a wonderful composition of color freshness, which is also highlighted by the bright blue of the sky.
