Otto Schulz Stradtmann Painting

Otto Schulz Stradtmann (Hamburg 1892-1960)

Atmospheric impressionistic painting from the 1920s/30s with a view over the Trave to Lübeck's old town.
The waterfront promenade, St. Mary's Church and St. Peter's Church form the centre of the picture. This silhouette is reflected in the water of the Trave in the foreground.
Painted by the well-known artist Otto Schulz Stradtmann, a Hamburg painter who is particularly known for his North German landscape motifs and cityscapes.
He studied in Hamburg, Weimar, Munich and Amsterdam.

The picture offered here in landscape format is painted in oil on painter's cardboard.
In addition to the classic choice of motif, it impresses with the quick painting technique, the pastel colours and the deliberate blurring of the objects.
The picture size is 50 x 35 cm, including the frame typical of the time 58.5 x 44 cm. It is signed bottom right with O.Schulz Stradtmann.

The old gallery sticker from the Kunstsalon Krone in Hamburg with catalogue number 10422 is on the back.
